A woman was having trouble understanding
the way of salvation. She just could not comprehend what
means to receive Christ. When she told an evangelist about
her perplexity he asked her this question: “Your
last name is Franklin, isn’t it?” When she
answered “yes”, he said, “How long has
it been that?” She replied, “Ever since my
husband and I were married 30 years ago”.
“Tell me” the preacher continued, “How
did you become Mrs. Franklin?” “It happened
at the wedding” she responded. The minister asked
me, ‘will you have this man to be your lawful, wedded
husband?’ and I said, “I will”. With
those words I became his wife, and his name has been mine
ever since.
The evangelist went on to ask “Didn’t you
say ‘I hope so’, or ‘I’d like
to’, or ‘I’ll try to take him as my
husband’?” No, the woman answered. I said,
‘I will’, and that’s all there was to
it.
The minister explained that God wanted her to take Christ
as her saviour. Then he posed this question: “what
should you say to that?” The woman finally saw the
point and exclaimed “How simple!” At last
wondering why she hadn’t said “I will”
long before, she, she accepted Christ as her saviour.
Believing what the Bible say about Him-that He died for
her sins-she placed her trust in Him for salvation.
Have you said, “I will” to Jesus?
Revelation 3:20 say:
“Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any
man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come in
to him and will sup with him and he with me”.
Only if you will let Jesus into your life today, you
will be a child of God and have Jesus as a saviour,
priest and a brother (Hebrews 2:10-15)
You can respond to Jesus’ call in prayer. Only
decide and purpose to stop doing all wrongs (Acts 16:31;
3:19). Tell Jesus you are sorry and will not want to
do them again (confession, 1 John 1:9) and call Jesus
to come and live in your heart and make you a child
of God (John 1:12).
Please earnestly pray this prayer now. Lord Jesus I
am grateful for your word. I am sorry for all my sins
and want to come out of them. Please forgive me all
my sin and come and live in my heart. I promise to follow
you all the days of my life. Thank you very much for
making me a child of God. Amen.
